Modernisation of the Railway Systems on the Pablo de Olavide–Montecarmelo Tram Line

The consortium formed by Magtel, Enyse and Sineox Rail is carrying out the modernisation of the railway systems on the tram line linking Pablo de Olavide University and Montecarmelo, in the municipality of Alcalá de Guadaíra. This line, currently out of service, forms part of the transport network of the Province of Seville, and its restoration is considered key to improving sustainable mobility across the region.

The line will have an approximate length of 12.5 kilometres and will significantly enhance metropolitan mobility. The project’s main objective is to ensure efficient, safe and modern operation, strengthening connectivity between Alcalá de Guadaíra, Pablo de Olavide University and the wider metropolitan transport network of Seville.

With a budget of €23.2 million, the project includes the following works:

  • Installation and integration of tram signalling systems.
  • Implementation of a Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) system.
  • Installation of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) systems.
  • Deployment of an Operational Assistance System (SAE).
  • Development of fixed and mobile communications systems.
  • Integration of railway safety systems.
  • Installation of Passenger Information Systems (PIS).
  • Implementation of ticketing systems.
  • Commissioning of a Centralised Control Centre fully integrated with the Seville Metro.

Works have been ongoing since October 2024, with completion scheduled for the first half of 2026.
