Replacement of the Optical Fibre Backbone Cable in the Southern Area
The replacement of the optical fibre backbone cable in the Southern Area forms part of an initiative aimed at strengthening and modernising railway telecommunications infrastructure across several strategic high-speed rail corridors.
The project involves the renewal of ADIF High-Speed’s optical communications backbone infrastructure through the replacement of existing cabling and the deployment of a new fibre optic network.

Main Works Carried Out
- Civil engineering works to enable the reuse of existing infrastructure.
- Construction of new ducting routes.
- Excavation of trenches and installation of cable troughs.
- Removal of existing cabling and installation of a new 64-fibre optical backbone cable.
- Reorganisation of service connections.
- Installation and equipping of telecommunications distribution frames.
