The replacement of the optical fibre backbone cable in the Southern Area forms part of an initiative aimed at strengthening and modernising railway telecommunications infrastructure across several strategic high-speed rail corridors.

The project involves the renewal of ADIF High-Speed’s optical communications backbone infrastructure through the replacement of existing cabling and the deployment of a new fibre optic network.

  • Civil engineering works to enable the reuse of existing infrastructure.
  • Construction of new ducting routes.
  • Excavation of trenches and installation of cable troughs.
  • Removal of existing cabling and installation of a new 64-fibre optical backbone cable.
  • Reorganisation of service connections.
  • Installation and equipping of telecommunications distribution frames.
