A market for data and services will be created
It will include the creation of four groups of use cases that will show the value of having a common data space: renewables, local energy communities, electromobility, flexibility.
Based on common European standards, the initiative aims to implement an energy data space. This will include federated infrastructure, data marketplace, and service marketplace, which will involve the exchange of data between different stakeholders and demonstrate its value for concrete energy use cases, while ensuring scalability and interoperability with other data space initiatives.
The project includes the creation of 4 use case families that will show the value of having a common data space for a particular problem identified by stakeholders in the energy sector.
- Renewables: Have renewable plant owners and service providers to optimize operation and maintenance to increase the availability of renewable energy sources (RES) and reduce the CO2 footprint.
- Local energy communities: Exploiting data from different energy vectors to optimize the overall performance of a local community, rather than optimizing each vector individually.
- Electromobility: Demonstrate how data exchange can facilitate and scale services such as reserves and create innovative services such as cross-border self-consumption of renewable energy. It will involve the electricity system from charging points to transmission system operators (TSOs) in different EU countries.
- Flexibility: Aiming to demonstrate the performance improvement that can be achieved for local/municipal-level identification and provision of flexibility when service providers can have access to expanded datasets from multiple sources.
The Renewable use case, in which Mactel participates, aims to:
- Develop, implement and validate the corresponding building blocks to enable companies to share data while ensuring privacy, security and sovereignty, as well as open, standardized and tested interfaces of energy devices through a higher degree of interoperability.
- Develop, implement and validate the corresponding services that allow a more efficient, clean, sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply based on higher performance renewable energy solutions.
- Create new business models for the sustainable compensation/monetisation of data and services to foster the European market in the data economy.
