+600 people trained in deploying fibre optics networks, +60% found a job
Fundación Magtel was among the winners of the 2019 Andalusian Telecommunications Awards. These are jointly presented each year by the Asociación de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación de Andalucía Occidental (ASITANO) and the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación de Andalucía Occidental y Ceuta (COITAOC) as part of Telecommunications Night.
In particular, the panel awarded the company the Joint Action Special Award in recognition of the training programme for FTTH (fibre to the home) installation engineers. The initiative, targeted at vulnerable people, furthers their social and professional integration through training courses in telecommunications, one of the industries with the highest growth and most career opportunities.
Fundación Magtel is working out the vocational route for FTTH Installation Engineer with one of its goals in mind: improving the employability of marginalised communities or people at risk of social exclusion. More than 600 people underwent training in deploying fibre optics networks; over 60% of those found a job. In her acceptance speech, Auxiliadora López Magdaleno, president of Fundación Magtel, thanked public administrations, private organisations, and charities for their share in the outcomes. She paid tribute to the participants, who “despite being in dire straits give their very best in making the most of this opportunity.”
ASITANO and COITAOC also acknowledged tech multinational Orange, Seville startup Bitnami, and Loreto del Valle Cebada, currently head of Digital Economy and Innovation at the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian regional government).
