The Magtel Foundation has held the presentation of its social action awards at a gala hosted at the Círculo de la Amistad in Córdoba. The event was attended by a large number of Andalusian and Cordoban organisations and entities linked to the third sector, as well as companies and institutional representatives from all levels of public administration.
These awards, now in their sixth edition, have recognised six projects and initiatives across the categories of Research and Innovation in the agri‑food sector and the circular economy; social and labour inclusion; and international development cooperation, based in Andalusia, Aragon, Mauritania and Senegal.
During the event, the President of the Foundation, Auxiliadora López Magdaleno, highlighted the value of the social action carried out by corporate foundations in helping to improve the living conditions and opportunities of the most disadvantaged people.
The event was hosted by journalist Marta Jiménez and included the participation of the Deputy Government Delegate, Ana López, and the Andalusian Government Delegate, Adolfo Molina, during the awards presentation, as well as the closing remarks by the Deputy Mayor, Blanca Torrent, representing Córdoba City Council.
In the first category, Research and Innovation in the agri‑food sector and the circular economy, the award was presented to the Futuralga S. Coop. And., project from Cádiz, focused on the development of disposable compostable packaging made from washed‑up algae for fruit and vegetable products. In doing so, it replaces single‑use plastics and generates zero waste at the end of its life cycle, in line with the principles of the circular economy and the blue bioeconomy.
The runner‑up award went to Recicla APP, an initiative focused on turning citizen recycling into Certified Energy Savings (CAEs). Presented by Innovoros, it is an innovative digital solution that connects household recycling with certified energy savings, transforming citizens’ actions into measurable, traceable and scalable energy value.
In the second category, Social and Labour Inclusion, the award was presented to Global Empleo, an initiative focused on socio‑labour inclusion, senior mentoring and work–life balance, submitted by the Asociación DYAR (Descubrir y Aprender), de Rincón de la Victoria (Málaga). The project addresses the labour market integration of vulnerable groups through individualised pathways, market‑aligned theoretical and practical training, active job placement, socio‑emotional support with senior mentoring, and assistance with work–life balance.
The runner‑up award was presented to OriéntaTE‑Al empleo, submitted by the Andalusian Federation for Asperger’s Syndrome, based in Ginés (Seville). This programme aims to improve the employability of people with Asperger’s syndrome (ASD Level 1) by facilitating their access to the labour market through work placements and job integration, while also raising awareness within the business community to reduce stereotypes and prejudice.
Finally, in the third category, International Development Cooperation, the award was presented to Sahara Haya, a project submitted by U Planet and implemented in Bir Mogrein (Mauritania). The initiative includes the installation of a desalination plant to treat groundwater, the expansion of the vegetable garden to one hectare through drip irrigation, and the mechanisation of agricultural tasks to produce food sustainably in a desert environment. This improves food security and the living conditions of a population of 5,000 people.
The runner‑up award was granted to the project “De la Calle al Aula” (From the Street to the Classroom), dedicated to the protection and restoration of the rights of Talibé children in Senegal and submitted by the Asha‑Kiran Foundation. The initiative establishes a community centre providing comprehensive care for 600 Talibé children and adolescents in situations of exploitation and begging, combining accelerated basic education, primary health care, child protection and psychosocial support.
