Magtel strengthens its role in Asealen following its re-election as Vice-President and participation in a sector conference on storage

Magtel has been re-elected as Vice-President of the Spanish Energy Storage Association (ASEALEN) following the holding of its General Assembly, thereby consolidating its commitment to the development of energy storage in Spain. As part of the same process, the association has appointed Dolores Sánchez (Apiq Energía España) as its new President, marking a stage that reinforces the sector’s institutional structure and its engagement with public and private stakeholders involved in the energy transition.

The renewal of the Board of Directors took place prior to the professional conference entitled “Storage: the key component of the new energy normality”, held at Cuatrecasas’ headquarters in Madrid, in which Magtel participated alongside companies and experts from the sector.

At this event, the company was represented by its Director of Hydraulics and Environment, Arturo Buenaventura, who took part in the roundtable dedicated to hydro storage together with Miguel Ángel Núñez Casamayor from TASGA Renovables and Pedro Machín from ATALAYA Generación. During the session, the role of this technology as a large-scale storage solution was discussed, highlighting its importance in providing flexibility to the electricity system and facilitating the integration of renewable energy.

The event also brought together representatives from Cuatrecasas, Alpiq, Statkraft, Agere Energy & Infrastructure Partners, Optimize Energy, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting, Jinko ESS, Gnera Energía and nTeaser – Renewable Projects Marketplace, who addressed regulatory, social, market and investment aspects related to the development of energy storage.

Magtel’s participation in Asealen and in initiatives of this kind forms part of its strategy to promote energy storage solutions, particularly through the Blue Storage initiative, aimed at improving energy manageability and the stability of the electricity system. In this area, the company is developing projects such as La Barca, located in Tineo (Asturias), focused on large-scale hydro storage and representative of its commitment to technologies capable of providing support in scenarios of high renewable penetration.

Furthermore, its participation in this sector forum has enabled the sharing of technical approaches and the exchange of experiences with other operators in a context where storage is becoming increasingly important in energy planning. These forums also help to align criteria and define the role of technologies such as hydro storage within a mix that is increasingly oriented towards renewable integration and efficient energy management.

This dual milestone — institutional and technical — strengthens Magtel’s position within the energy storage ecosystem, in a context in which these technologies are playing an increasingly significant role in the energy transition.
