Fog/Cloud Distributed Computing System for Critical Infrastructures

The Critical Fog project is framed within research on distributed computing systems, combining the Edge, Fog, and Cloud paradigms. The aim is the design and implementation of a hybrid Fog/Cloud system focused on critical infrastructures, enabling users to always have the necessary computing resources available, as well as access to superior computational capacity during periods of Cloud connection.

The specific objectives pursued are:

• Research, design, and development of a Fog subsystem.
• Research, design, and development of a Cloud subsystem.
• Design and development of a digital twin of a defense infrastructure.
• Research, design, and development of an artificial intelligence system capable of operating in a hybrid Fog/Cloud system.

The proposal was submitted under the category of research and development projects for the development of dual-use technologies and was funded by the CDTI. This type of dual-use technology finds applications both in the field of Defense and in the civilian sector.
