Magtel’s Telecommunications Division will begin, in the fourth quarter of this year, the installation of the bi‑directional automatic block system (BAB) on the La Gineta–Socuéllamos railway section, as well as the implementation of the centralised traffic control system on the Alcázar de San Juan–Albacete section, part of the Madrid–Alicante line. The works will be carried out for the company CAF Signalling.
Magtel will undertake the signalling systems, which include the installation of local operating posts and cab equipment; the deployment of train‑detection systems; signals; terminal boxes; and signalling and power‑supply cabling.
With regard to train‑protection systems, technicians will install the ASFA system (Automatic Braking and Signal Announcement), whose purpose is to transmit the information ordered or provided by lineside signals, alerting the driver through visual and acoustic indications inside the cab.
As for civil‑works activities, the project will involve trenching, ducting, manholes and inspection chambers.
In addition, the assembly and installation of distribution frames will be carried out, along with splicing and testing of the fibre‑optic communications cable network.
Finally, for operational safety, approved safety lookouts will be provided to ensure the protection and supervision of works taking place on the track.
According to the Telecommunications Division, “between 25 and 30 people are expected to be employed during the execution of the project.”
