Magtel receives the 2015 Ingenio Award for best project: National dorsal fiber optic network of Peru

The Official College of Technical Telecommunications Engineers of Andalusia (COOITT-a) and the Andalusian Association of Technical Telecommunications Engineers and Graduates (AAGIT) has given Magtel the 2015 Ingenious Award.

The prize, awarded in the category of Best Business Project, recognises the Best Project promoted by a private company and its business development within the technological sector.

It is a project for the Supervision of the Deployment of the Dorsal Fiber Optic Network in Peru, the most important investment by the Peruvian government in telecommunications engineering and that seeks to deploy a large fiber optic network that crosses the country north to south and totals over 13,500 kilometres of fiber optic network, which will provide broadband to over 22 regional capitals that, in turn, will be interconnected with over 180 provincial capitals.

The project will thus provide all of Peru’s regional and provincial capitals with high speed connections in order to offer broadband service throughout the national territory, thereby providing the population with access to and use of last generation networks as a means of encouraging the country’s progress, socioeconomic development and competiveness.

The Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Peru awarded Magtel this contract in 2014 with a budget exceeding 7 million dollars for the legal, economic and technical supervision of the National Dorsal Fiber Optic Network Project, by applying the latest techniques and know-how acquired after 25 years’ experience in the fiber optic field.

The award was given last Friday at the 2015 Telecos Andalucía Forum, an event attended by Andalusian professionals from the field of new technologies and telecommunications.
