On November 29, Sofía González Hergueta, Magtel’s Technical Project Director for Biometanization, and Álvaro Sánchez Sánchez de Puerta, the company’s R&D&I Director, attended the presentation of a European biomethane project, Biomethaverse, in Barcelona.
The project aims to diversify the technological base for biomethane production in Europe, increase its profitability, and support the adoption of biomethane technologies. To achieve this, a set of objectives has been established across five separate pathways in five European countries: France, Greece, Italy, Sweden, and Ukraine. These five demonstration projects aim to go beyond existing commercially implemented technologies and focus on:
The objectives of the Biomethaverse project are pursued through the implementation and consolidation of several fundamental pillars. These include the demonstration of innovative pathways for biomethane production and the evaluation and optimization of these innovative approaches. Additionally, the project seeks market and policy engagement through planning decisions, replication, and broad communication and dissemination.
Formed by multiple partners, the project also aims to attract new collaborators and companies to strengthen the initiative and expand it into the Spanish market.
