The Assembly Hall of the Rabanales Campus hosted the First Provincial Social Forum on Engineering on 13 November, an initiative organised by the Social Council of the University of Córdoba (UCO) and the Córdoba Provincial Council, with the collaboration of Fundecor. This pioneering event in the province was created with the aim of strengthening ties between the university and the business sector to advance sustainability, competitiveness, and technological innovation.
The President of the Provincial Council, Salvador Fuentes, opened the forum alongside the President of the UCO Social Council, Francisco Muñoz, and the Vice-Rector for Digital Transformation and Data Management, Sebastián Ventura, highlighting that this initiative reinforces the implementation of the Dual Technological Innovation Master Plan, focused on specialised training, knowledge transfer, and an economic model based on innovation.
Throughout the day, strategic opportunities for Córdoba were addressed in sectors such as the Army Logistics Base (BLET), green hydrogen, and industrial clusters for refrigeration, wood, and mining, as well as access to European funds. The forum’s conclusions will be compiled in a document that will serve as the basis for the White Paper on Engineering in the Province of Córdoba, scheduled for 2026.
Magtel actively participated in this dialogue space. Inmaculada Junquera, from Magtel’s Talent Management Area, took part in Panel 2, “Civil Engineering, Energy and Mining”, where issues such as improving teaching applied to the productive environment, employability, student internships, research aimed at provincial development, and knowledge transfer were discussed. Meanwhile, Antonio Salvador, ICT Manager in Magtel’s R&D&I Division, joined Panel 4, focused on technological innovation and the digital future.
Among the most relevant conclusions, it was noted that civil engineering is currently experiencing full employment, making it difficult to attract experienced profiles. Companies agreed on the need to bring the university closer to business reality, proposing initiatives such as personalised mentoring, dual training, and events where companies can present their activities directly to students. The importance of promoting research and university-business collaboration was also emphasised, encouraging the annual presentation of the best academic work and business participation in research projects.
Through its presence at this forum, Magtel reaffirms its commitment to innovation and cooperation between university and business as a lever for the economic and social development of Córdoba.
