The Mineye project was created to strengthen the EU’s autonomy in primary and secondary raw materials while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact of mining operations.

This is achieved through Earth Observation (EO)-based technologies applied across the entire mining value chain. The main objective is to develop data-processing algorithms using EO technologies for the exploration, exploitation, closure, and post-closure phases of mines. An IPOP platform will be created to address different aspects of the mining value chain, including:

• Mineral prospectivity maps.
• Mining waste inventory maps and packages.

Tharsis Mining contributes to the MINEYE project with its extensive mining operations experience, providing information and chemical, mineralogical, and petrophysical characterization of rock, soil, and stream sediment samples, granting access to mining sites for testing and experiments, and collaborating with other project partners in the development and application of innovative mining technologies and practices.

The analysis of field and waste samples provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of the mining industry and helps tailor project results to the needs and priorities of the sector.

The project has a duration of four years, ending in 2027, and involves a consortium of 13 partners in total.
