Magtel’s Health and Safety Department collaborates in Córdoba event to promote workplace safety on construction sites.
Representing the company, technicians Inmaculada Herrador and Emilio Triviño attended the event. Magtel’s Health and Safety Department collaborated in two technical sessions focused on occupational safety in construction projects. The department’s technicians, Inmaculada Herrador and Emilio Triviño, participated in this meeting organized by the Occupational Risk Prevention Center of the Territorial Delegation of Employment, Training, and Self-Employment of the Regional Government of Andalusia in Córdoba.
The two sessions aimed to promote a culture of prevention. The first session highlighted the essential documentation for projects (studies, safety and health plans, subcontracting records) and emphasized continuous monitoring by technical personnel (site manager, project management, coordinator, and safety officer) as a key factor in worker protection and construction quality.
The second session focused on the various preventive practices implemented by the company to manage and control risks, such as launch, periodic, and daily meetings, training and awareness talks, with particular emphasis on the preventive organizational structure on site and the responsibilities of each role.
The event also involved collaboration from the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate and the Official College of Architects of Córdoba.
The aim of this event was to bring together professionals, companies, and public administrations to update standards and procedures, and to provide a forum to discuss the sector’s challenges, questions, and needs that affect operational effectiveness.
Essential role of prevention services
Prevention services (SP) play a crucial role in companies and workplaces, as their purpose is to prevent work activities from harming employees’ health.
Among their main tasks, SPs have a dual function: on one hand, they must manage and perform specialized activities reserved for their role; on the other, they act as advisors to both employers and workers in prevention matters, ensuring that safety is integrated into the management and execution of organizational activities.
Regarding preventive activity, reality shows there are gaps in the management instruments established by Law 31/1995 that must be addressed. For example, these include formal documentation deficiencies, inadequate organization, limited resources, market-driven pressure, and insufficient implementation of a “preventive culture” within many companies.
Recognition for Magtel
Magtel was recognized by the Confederation of Employers of Andalusia (CEA) for implementing the IPAL system as a good practice in protecting workers.
The Magtel Joint Prevention Service (SPM) carries out intensive risk management and control in all projects.
The company also has several tools for managing and controlling safety, including the “Prior Work Verification Report”, a tool that allows responsible workers to assess the workplace, anticipated risks, necessary resources and measures to perform tasks safely, and to halt work if conditions are not adequate to begin (Stop Work Policy).
