Our Telecommunications Division continues to strengthen its position in the traditional and railway sectors.

The Telecommunications Division continues to strengthen its position in the operational sector and has become a benchmark in two key areas: Telco and the railway sector.

Throughout 2024, the Division has achieved significant milestones that expand the company’s technological capabilities, its national positioning, service quality, and diversification of activities.

From Traditional Telco to Techco

The Telco area has continued to grow and consolidate its activity, establishing itself as the main supplier for the country’s telecommunications operators.

At the same time, the Division has expanded geographically with new branches in Asturias, Galicia, and Gran Canaria. We have also enhanced 5G coverage in rural areas, particularly in Andalusia, Extremadura, and Castilla-La Mancha, improving connectivity and contributing to the technological development of these regions.

Some of the most notable projects carried out last year include the maintenance and deployment of HFC and fiber optic networks.

These projects encompassed expansion, construction, maintenance, and deployment of telecommunications networks, including the development of new FTTH infrastructures. The works were carried out in Andalusia, Extremadura, and Melilla, in urban, institutional, and business environments.

In parallel, more than 66,000 ADSL and FTTH installations were completed directly to households, including connection, testing, and commissioning of telephone, internet, and television services. These activities were mainly developed in Eastern Andalusia, Melilla, Madrid, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Strategically, to strengthen the company’s technological positioning, alliances with clients, partners, and operators have been reinforced to develop innovative IoT and 5G projects across the main industries we serve.

As a result, we have started the first collaborations in areas such as the digitalization of the integral water cycle, as well as for cities and large communication infrastructures such as stations and airports.

At the Telecommunications Division, we are fully aware of the importance of adapting to the sector’s transformation. At Magtel, we are committed to the transition from a traditional Telco to a more technology-driven, connectivity-centered telecommunications model—what is now known as Techco.

Railway Sector Projects

In the railway sector, we have continued to develop major projects. This is a well-known area for the company, backed by 25 years of experience executing projects across the Spanish mainland.

Key activities include railway signaling and communication, enabling tracks for correct operations, infrastructure machinery operation, and safety measures for circulation.

This strong presence has allowed us to position ourselves as a key player in the railway sector. Among the most important projects are:

  • Collaboration with Adif, consolidating our role as a partner across various regions, working with our client CAF Signalling on large-scale projects.
  • Main assignments have included:
    • León Subdirectorate.
    • Catalonia Subdirectorate, with railway signaling installations on the Grañén–Monzón (Huesca) section.
    • Madrid Subdirectorate, with the execution of the Cotos–Cercedilla section.
    • Levante Subdirectorate, with signaling installation between La Gineta and Socuéllamos.

In addition, we are currently in the bidding process for a project on Andalusia’s railway network, which would allow us to work with all five of Adif’s subdirectorates at the national level.

To round out our activity, we are executing tramway and metro installations together with Enyse and Syneox as part of the Alcalá de Guadaíra line project, which connects the Pablo de Olavide University with Montecarmelo.

Our Telecommunications Division looks to the future with optimism, with plans to continue leading in both sectors and providing cutting-edge solutions for our clients.
