Energy efficiency for the Andalusian

Director of energy division

At Magtel, a technology-based company in Andalusia, we are firmly committed to applying our energy efficiency solutions to the agri-food sector and agriculture in general. These solutions have been developed for various productive sectors since 2006.

The latest project we have executed, in this case for the Fresno Irrigation Community in Huelva, enables water supply to the El Diamante reservoir, providing irrigation for over 550 hectares of crops through a 409 kW photovoltaic plant that powers the Valdemaría pumping station. This project, made possible by incorporating two hybrid frequency inverters, allows pumping to be exclusively powered by solar energy during the day.

The results have been excellent, as a matter of fact, the Irrigation Community has reported a 95 percent economic savings since its implementation.

At Magtel, we always employ suppliers of the highest guarantee in our projects. In this installation, for example, the 765 photovoltaic modules used are from Longi, a world leader in the manufacturing of monocrystalline solar panels. The model used in this case was the LR5-72HBD-535M, with a power output of 535 Wp and one of the highest efficiencies in the market. For the frequency inverters used in the pumping system, we selected the SD700SP option from Power Electronics, a reputable company in this field.

The potential for improvement

In this regard, Magtel has carried out numerous projects in the agricultural and agri-food sector, ranging from photovoltaic or thermal self-consumption solutions to the optimization of self-produced energy utilization. The latest project for the Fresno Irrigation Community reaffirms that the potential for improvement is enormous.

We cannot overlook the fact that photovoltaic energy has reached a full level of maturity. Nowadays, its components offer guarantees of up to 25 or even 30 years, and their efficiency has evolved tremendously. At the same time, the cost of this technology has rapidly decreased in recent years, making it one of the most secure and sustainable options for electricity generation.
