Eco-Rail participates in a seminar on smart mobility and logistics in Córdoba

On Thursday, April 10, Eco-Rail’s CEO, Juan Fernández, participated in the 3rd Sustainable Mobility and ECO Seminar: Smart Logistics and Emissions Reduction, delivering the presentation “Implementation of Rail Freight Highway Services.”

Juan Fernández detailed the most important aspects of the project Eco-Rail is developing with the Algeciras-Zaragoza rail line, highlighting the significant progress achieved along the route, which spans approximately 1,080 km and takes around 21 hours from departure in Algeciras to the final destination in Zaragoza.

Focusing on rail as the central axis of the transport model, Fernández emphasized the importance of the customer in the road transport sector, proposing a railway alternative that integrates with existing road transport, complements the client’s business, and simplifies logistics processes.

Key Factors

Fernández highlighted the critical factors in the rail freight highway, such as service frequency and targeting potential clients near borders with other countries, both in the north and south of the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally, the continuous movement of goods, driven by competitive pricing, creates a steady flow of products, increases productivity, and reduces pause times for goods in trains or trucks.

The CEO of Eco-Rail stressed that the service must always be robust, reliable, and of high quality—matching or exceeding road transport standards—to meet logistical demands and ensure dependable performance.

In conclusion, he highlighted the ambition of the project to continue growing and expanding the rail network toward Southern Europe, passing through Barcelona and distributing across the European continent.

During the event, Juan Fernández emphasized how smart logistics can revolutionize transport, reduce emissions, and make supply chains more sustainable—a step toward a greener and more efficient future.

The seminar was organized by Atradeco, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, the Social Council of the University of Córdoba, and the Provincial Energy Agency of Córdoba.
