Magtel took part this week in GENERA 2025, the international energy and environment trade fair held in Madrid, consolidating its commitment to the energy transition and technological innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the session organised by the Spanish Energy Storage Association (ASEALEN), dedicated to the strategic role of storage in the Spanish electricity system, Andr\u00e9s Zapico Mart\u00edn, Magtel\u2019s Director of Hydropower Plant Projects, presented the Magtel BlueStorage initiative. This strategy encompasses more than 24 reversible hydropower plant projects across the Iberian Peninsula, with an installed capacity exceeding 5,000 MW and a storage capacity of over 57 GWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These infrastructures enable the use of renewable surpluses by pumping water (energy storage) and generating electricity during periods of high demand, providing flexibility, security, and efficiency to the Spanish electricity system. Zapico also moderated the panel on Hydraulic Energy Storage, which addressed processing, requirements, and barriers to storage (Public Hydraulic Domain and Access and Connection Points to the electricity grid), as well as the National Hydraulic Energy Storage Programme (PNAHE), stressing the need for decisive support from public authorities, as projects and companies are ready for development, thus meeting the objectives set out in the PNIEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magtel also played a prominent role in the session \u201cRenewables and Hydrogen: Joining Forces and Building Bridges\u201d<\/em>, where \u00c1lvaro S\u00e1nchez S\u00e1nchez de Puerta, Director of Magtel\u2019s R&D&I Division, presented the progress of the AD-GRHID project: a hybrid AC\/DC microgrid integrating photovoltaic technology, batteries, electrolysis, hydrogen storage, and fuel cells. The system is managed using advanced models and artificial intelligence. The project, co-financed by CDTI and Corporaci\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de Andaluc\u00eda (CTA), reflects Magtel\u2019s commitment to developing smart and sustainable grids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n GENERA 2025 has established itself as a key platform for fostering strategic alliances and accelerating the transition towards more flexible energy systems.
