The managing director of Magtel, Martín Salgado Devincenzi, took part in the roundtable entitled ‘Analysis of the status of Andalusia’s business fabric: Practical success stories’, framed within the economic forum organised by El Español and its economic daily Invertia: ‘Post-Covid Andalusia’ held at the Cajasol Foundation in Seville.
At the table moderated by Alberto García Valera, managing partner of Ernst & Young in Andalusia and Extremadura, in addition to the Magtel chief, other speakers included Ricardo Pumar, executive president of the Insur Group, and Santiago Alfonso, vice-president of Corporate Communications and Reputation at the Cosentino Group. The leaders of these companies shared their visions for the future in a common commitment for analysis and strategy through keys like the sustainable agenda and digitalisation. The speakers reflected on the reality of each of their sectors and how Andalusia’s companies have suffered from the Covid crisis.
During his presentation, the managing director of Magtel spoke of sustainability, innovation, digitalisation and permanent training of company teams as company-wide features of all its lines of business and the main keys for its growth strategy, along with creating opportunities and managing Andalusia’s young professional talent.
Salgado also stressed that the challenge presented in the region must be handled by companies working together, ‘each with the nuances and riches they may have’, establishing alliances, strategies and synergies to take advantage of all opportunities that arise.
He also pointed out that the depth of transformation will be related to fostering the development of young professionals in Andalusia, who provide great value, highlighting the importance they have in an organisation like Magtel, ‘on which they imprint their speed’.
The three business sector representatives stressed the need for knowledge transfer between universities and businesses. Thus, public and private investments in R&D&i, the strengthening of Dual Professional Training and its connection to universities are a few of the actions he considers urgent. In this respect, they agreed that these initiatives would be useful for enhancing productivity and increasing per capital income in the community.
The event was attended by the president of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, and the director of the newspaper El Español, Pedro J. Ramírez, as well as numerous authorities and managers from Andalusian companies.
