The company marks its 30th anniversary with industry innovations and commemorates World Telecommunications and Information Society Day
Magtel is taking part in the adaptation process to the 5G switchover. It is upgrading sites and infrastructures that are due to host equipment fitted with this new technology. This is a major challenge. Born as a telecommunications business 30 years ago, Magtel wishes to hold the lead in the industry by playing an active role in the switchover. In fact, the R&D&I Division has a dedicated Telecommunications department to drive research and innovation projects in this field.
Antonio Torres, general manager of Operations at Magtel’s Facilities Division, pointed out the company is partnering with operators and vendors in engineering and development tasks as well as in building premises on-site.
Mr Torres also remarked that some operators are conducting pilot projects across different regions. The new 5G mobile technology will bring about three use cases: ultra-reliable, low-latency (delay caused by the Net) communications; enhanced mobile broadband, and massive machine-machine communications. It is bound to have a major impact on the Internet of Things (IoT).
Energy, agrifood, security and defence, smart cities and regions, health care, infrastructure and transport, drone monitoring, and industry 4.0 will benefit from IoT applications. For instance, it will allow the viewing of virtual parts in real-life environments.
Magtel has been known to diversify its operations by driving its presence into emerging industries and to get projects and services kitted up with the latest technologies. Apart from telecoms, Magtel designs projects in energy, environment, infrastructure, railways, and mining.
The company was in attendance at the 5G Virtual Forum, held on May 6th and 7th, along with businesses leading the way in 5G adoption and the Spanish ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation. This event intended to present the latest developments in this technology.
